Ledlogas' 1-99 Fishing guide

Recommended Posts

Hello and welcome to my fishing guide!

This guide aims to help players find suitable spots to train fishing with ease from the lowest to the highest level possible.

"Fishing is a skill which involves catching fish from selected spots around Gielinor. Higher Fishing levels enable different mechanisms of Fishing, the ability to catch a larger selection of fish and increases a player's catch rate. Caught fish may be cooked through the Cooking skill to create food which may be used later to regain hitpoints during combat. Alternatively, many players sell their excess stock of catches for gold." - OSRS wiki (https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Fishing)

Credits to @Level 3 for the experience rates found on his woodcutting guide.

Start off by going to the tool store at the Edgeville shop to buy the fishing tools/items.

The Angler's outfit set provides an 2.5% experience boost while fishing. You can acquire it by talking to Alry the Angler (skilling>Fishing: Lake Molch). The hat, top, waders, and boots cost 100 molch pearls each. Additionally, you can buy the wearable pearl rods to help you save space in your inventory.

Note: You can also do aerial fishing after you get 35 fishing and 43 hunter. A guide to it has been posted by @Sen in his hunter guide. Please do check him out!

Start off by grabbing your small fishing net and lobster pot. Catch some shrimps and anchovies until you reach level 40 or enough to get you to 40 cooking.

Shrimp base experience: 10

Anchovy base experience: 40

Teleport: Skilling>Fishing: Catherby

Item/s needed: Small fishing net

Continue fishing at same spot and start catching lobsters until you reach level 62 or enough to get you to 62 cooking.

Lobster base experience: 90

Teleport: Skilling>Fishing: Catherby

Item/s needed: Lobster pot

After getting 62 fishing, it's time to catch monkfish until you reach level 76 or enough to get you to 80 cooking.

Monkfish base experience: 120

Teleport: Cities>Piscatoris

Item/s needed: Small fishing net

At level 76, you can now head to the fishing guild and start catching sharks until you reach level 82 or enough to get you to 84 cooking.

Shark base experience: 110

Teleport: Skilling>Fishing: Guild

Item/s needed: Harpoon

Now you're 82 fishing, it's time to catch and stock up a lot of anglerfish until you reach level 99. Anglerfish is one of the highest HP restoring food that is very beneficial in high level PVM or even PVP.

Anglerfish base experience: 120

Teleport: Skilling>Fishing: Anglerfish

Item/s needed: Fishing rod and sandworms

Alternatively, you can head to the fishing platform and catch minnows by boarding the row boat near Kylie Minnow at the Fishing guild platforms. You can trade in Kylie Minnow 40 minnows for a noted shark, which is one the best ways to stock up sharks in-game.

Minnow base experience: 26.1 per catch

Teleport: Skilling>Fishing: Guild

Item/s needed: Small fishing net

It may be noted that lobsters are fastest xp unless you have dragon harpoon, then tuna and swordfish are fastest xp to 99.

For the lower xp rate modes; it would be wise to switch to trout/salmon instead of fishing shrimp tell 40.

This is a good guide to teach people the levels and where to fish; just not very good for efficiency.
