Beta boy wants to beta test

Do you have any experience when it comes to bug-testing: Yes, I've been playing RS since 2005 (started young), and RSPS since 2008. In the later years, I'd mainly play RSPS to find bugs, or test my reverse engineering knowledge, by trying to bypass the various obfuscation techniques servers were using, and getting the servers to load in my own client. I've spent time writing private plugins for RuneLite, as well as my own client, requiring not only knowledge of Java and the JVM, but also OSRS's Clientscript (cs2, referred to as rs2asm in RuneLite).

How knowledgeable would you say you are when it comes to Runescape/Oldschool Runescape: Very knowledgeable. I am very comfortable with the game mechanics, and from years of writing client updaters, clients and exploits, I've basically got the structure of OSRS and standard RSPS clients ingrained in my memory. I'm familiar with multiple types of exploits, whether it's interface based, or stream based.

Runescape username & total level: I have 2 accounts. An Iron man, and a Zerker.

Iron Man: My Eden

Zerker: Tezlaz

How do you feel you'd be useful in testing Zaros: I think I'd be a great asset to your team of testers, since I not only have extensive game knowledge, but also have a background in reverse engineering and pentesting, as it is my academic field of study. I know how to think of ways to break or test for faults, and also how to put those concepts into an action with the game knowledge I have. I would love to help testing, whether it's ironing out small bugs, or patching up more severe ones. I'd love to be of help!

How many hours do you plan on spending per week on average testing: I would be able to put at least 20 hours a week into testing, since I am pretty much homebound for a considerable while due recovering from operations. As it stands, I'm healthy enough to do the things I love, but not at a point where I'd be consistent enough for a 9 to 5 job in a professional environment. That's why I would love very much to be a part of this somehow, and I would really enjoy working with others who are at a similar level as I am. Without being able to go to university atm, it's almost impossible to converse and share ideas and knowledge with people who are well versed in pentesting, reverse engineering, and other intricacies.

Thank you so much for your time. I know this wasn't a short application, but I'm very keen to help, and want to best portray how able I am to do so. Can't wait to hear back! 🙂

PS: Most of the code here is old, and I haven't updated it since it loads RoatPkz atm, which I haven't seen anyone do for a while, and I don't want to create a swarm of bots to their server. But here is my GitHub with the early beginnings of my Client "King". https://github.com/JBerben

He seems like a very knowledgeable and valuable member that I feel would do well in the last month of the beta. His ironman's total level, on OSRS, is 1,950, which means he has almost experienced majority of what the ironman game mode has to offer and could easily spot indifferences in the game mode on Zaros. I also took the time to check out his Github, where he has created and contributed to numerous interesting projects. Although I can not attest to his quality in code, I do, however, believe he would make a good addition to the beta testing for our last month and be able to iron out any remaining bugs we may have left.

*No pun intended, I promise*

Thanks so much for the vouch! My code quality is honestly something I'm working towards fixing. Especially for what is shown on my GitHub profile. A lot of the projects were started when I was just spreading my wings in terms of dabbling in complex programming tasks. Over the years I've refined those skills a bit more in terms of what would be acceptable in the workplace, but refactoring old projects can be a nightmare. The RSPS related projects are being heavily worked on at the moment though.

I'd love to hear back and be able to beta test in any way. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to check my stuff out Setup! 🙂
